We are a group of antique, classic, custom and traditionally styled hot rod American car enthusiasts located in the state of Maryland in the U.S.A.. Old American iron is what we like and this is a place we can meet virtually to post about what we are working on, collecting, find or share information.

Jalopyrama 9
Every year since 2004 Mike Szuba and the Rusty Nuts have put on the Jalopyrama, a traditionally styled hot rod show. This show benefits the Providence Center of Anne Arundel County and KoC Council 10881. They do a fantastic job every year of bringing some of the best the country has to offer right into The Land of Pleasant Living. This year was no exception. The cars were great and the weather held up even though we are facing the threat of the Superstorm formerly known as Hurricane Sandy.
Last year for Jalopyrama 8, we left for Annapolis about 6:30 and the temperature was about 41 degrees. This year, we left about 5:30 and the temperature was about 60 degrees.
What a great event for a great cause. You can see the photos here:

The Jalopy Showdown Invitational
What a great event! It happened on Saturday July 28, 2012. At about 12:15 P.M. the skies opened up and everyone patiently waited under the Pavilion until the deluge of heavy rain with hail stopped and the skies cleared. A great time was had by all!

It Really Bothers Me
Whenever I see someone posting a Chevrolet 2 Door Sedan for sale on one of the various Forums, pages or in print or whatever and they call it a Coupe. It has been driving me crazy for years. So for those of you who would like to know how to tell the difference, here it is. A 1949 or 1950 Chevrolet Coupe has much smaller rear windows on the side than a 2 Door Sedan. There are even differences among the types of Coupes. A Sport Coupe (Deluxe) rear window will slide slightly open from front to back. A Business Coupe (Special) has fixed rear windows that will not open at all. Sounds pretty simple, huh? Now here's the hard part. Two Door Sedans have a much larger rear window than the Coupes and they roll down - with a window crank. Got it? THEY ROLL DOWN. Here are a couple of photos to help with the ID of these cars.

1949 Oldsmobile "88" at NSRA East 2010
These photos were taken at the NSRA East Nationals in June of 2010. What a great "barn find" this car was. All in all a fine example of American Iron from 1949.

With the winter weather finally setting in here in the East it makes it seem like car cruising season will never get here. In this feature we'll put up a photo from a previous season to help with passing the time until we're out there again.

Open House at Posie Rod & Custom
Mike K. took a road trip to the Commonwealth of PA this morning and saw some nice examples of American Iron at Posie Rod & Custom. He reported that the weather was cold, the doughnuts were good and plentiful and the machines were hot! I especially like the Kaiser Ute. That was really cool.
